Helping New Mexico’s Foster Kids Be Kids

Birthday Dreams

Celebrates each young person’s special day. With this new program, children and youth in care would receive gifts or gift cards tailored to their interests as well as a book based on their age. Request at least two weeks prior to child’s birthday.

Piggy Bank Project

Providing an opportunity for youth in state or tribal foster care, ages 16 and 17, to enhance their financial literacy skills through education and practice.

Our Mission

To meet identified needs of children and youth who experience state or tribal foster care across New Mexico in order to strengthen their sense of community and help them thrive.

For Foster Children & Parents

How can we help? We have several support programs to help with items, experiences, and birthday celebrations. Don’t see what you need? Reach out! We’ll work to connect with someone who can or develop a new program to address the need.

For Donors

A foster parent who has received support from contributions like yours wrote us: “It’s truly an honor to welcome very frightened kids into our family…. We appreciate that we do not need to do this alone but have caring people who help.” Find out more about how you can help to build that caring community for those in foster care.

For Volunteers

If you are interested in helping to improve the quality of life for children and youth who have been abused or neglected and are in, or have been in, foster care in New Mexico, New Mexico Friends of Foster Children has volunteer opportunities for you.
